An old song, made popular by Frank Sinatra, claims that with “Love and marriage … You can’t have one without the other.” A few people (OK, maybe a lot of people) would disagree with that.
But nobody can deny that planting and harvest are irrevocably joined. You really can’t have one without the other.
Spring planting is under way in earnest across the region, and farmers, grain elevator employees and many others in production agriculture are working long days to make sure the crop gets planted. I recently spent time at an area grain elevator to see what spring planting this year is like for its employees and patrons. Read my cover story in the April 23 issue of Agweek.
