An area farmer was talking with me this morning about the many changes in agriculture. The farmer passed along something his father used to say:: “Once you think you have farming figured out, it’s the beginning of the end.”
The need to evolve and change with the times is vital in just about any business or line of work. But given variable weather and ever-changing technology and crop prices, the need is particularly great in farming. Pragmatic flexibility may or may not be the most important trait a farmer can possess, but it’s surely near the top of the list.
