It may be a little early for 2013 wish lists, but here are my thoughts on the top four things that area farmers and farmers want next year. In ascending order of importance:
4. Lower input prices. Producers say the high cost of fuel, fertilizer and feed ravages their profit margins.
3. A new farm bill. Producers say they’re good at growing crops, but need to have a framework in which to grown them.
2. Higher commodity prices. Operating any business is easier when you receive a better price for your product.
1. Recharging moisture in the soil after the drought of 2012. When Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate, producers are in trouble.
Disagree with my list? If so, drop me a line and tell me what tops your 2013 wish list.
