There are many things to enjoy about summers on the Upper Midwest. Farmers markets are one of them, at least for some area residents.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture promotes and encourages farmers markets. The country has 7,800 farmers markets, about two-thirds more than in 2008, according to USDA.
As part of its effort, USDA is compiling its 2013 National Farmers Market Directory. If you have a farmers market and want to add or update information on it to the USDA directory, do so by June 28 at http://www.usdadirectoryupdate.com/.
