It’s healthy to promote your product

March is National Nutrition Month, and the folks at the Alliance for Potato Research and Education want us all to know that “nutrient-rich foods like potatoes” have an important role in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s MyPlate nutrition guide.

MyPlate has its critics. For instance, the Harvard School of Public Health says MyPlate’s dairy recommendations are too high. I’m not qualified to assess how much, if any, of the ¬†criticism is justified.

But I do know that it’s smart, perhaps even necessary, for commodity groups to promote their products within the MyPlate structure.
