My job is reporting on agricultural trends, issues and developments in the Upper Midwest and elsewhere. Value-added ag — what I call the Holy Grail of modern ag — is an important part of that. Sometimes value is added through producing alcohol: In the past year I’ve done stories on area companies involved in rye whiskey, wine, craft beer and, most recently, lentil beer.
Beer, of course, normally is made from barley. But it can be, and sometimes is, made from other products such as lentils. So, have you drank beer made from another product? If so, what was it?
